Getting my duck in a row

Sunset over Furesø, Holte (12 June 2008)
This isn't a scene from Nørrebro, but a bit further north, in the town of Holte, where some friends of mine live. They have a rather sizable lake, called Furesø. Nice place to have a beer and watch the sun go down. This is what it can look like on a summer evening when the weather is good. There were a couple more ducks floating around in the scene, but they didn't survive the crop.

Thanks for your nice comment, Jon. I think the way I cropped the photo makes the lake appear bigger and wilder than it really is, but it's still pretty incredible to have this view out from your back windows, porch, and yard. Of course, as my friend would say, it isn't free (the house and property, anyway). On the other hand, public access to the lake is mandated by law, as well as an unimpeded pathway around it, even though this means every private lakefront property must in some fashion be cut in two by a well-trafficked pedestrian and bike trail. In any case, my friend waited for years to buy the house, which he was already familiar with, since it's in the town where he grew up.
